ತಸ್ಯ ತದ್ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಸ್ಯ ಧೀಮತಃ |
ಹೃಷ್ಟರೋಮಾ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ ಶತಾನಂದೋ ಮಹತಪಾಃ ||
ಗೌತಮಸ್ಯ ಸುತೋ ಜ್ಯೇಷ್ಠಃ ತಪಸಾ ದ್ಯೋತಿತ ಪ್ರಭಃ |
ರಾಮಸಂದರ್ಶನಾದೇವ ಪರಂ ವಿಸ್ಮಯಮಾಗತಃ ||
ಸ ತೌ ನಿಷಣ್ಣೌ ಸಂಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಸುಖಾಸೀನೌ ನೃಪಾತ್ಮಜೌ|
ಶತಾನಂದೋ ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಂ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಮಥಾಬ್ರವೀತ್ ||

ಸ||ಧೀಮತಃ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಸ್ಯ ತಸ್ಯ ತತ್ ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ ಮಹಾತಪಾಃ ಶತಾನಂದಃ ಹೃಷ್ಟರೋಮಾ (ಅಭವತ್) |ಗೌತಮಸ್ಯ ಜ್ಯೇಷ್ಟಃ ಸುತಃ ತಪಸಾ ಜ್ಯೋತಿತ ಪ್ರಭಃ ರಾಮಸಂದರ್ಶನಾದೇವ ಪರಂ ವಿಸ್ಮಯಂ ಆಗತಃ |ಶತಾನಂದಃ ನಿಷಣ್ಣೌ ಸುಖಾಸೀನೌ ನೃಪಾತ್ಮಜೌ ಸಂಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಂ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಂ ಅಥ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ |

Hearing those words of sagacious sage Viswamitra, Satananda highly radiant and rich with the power of penance was thrilled. Satanada the the eldest son of Gautama radiant with the power of penance was delighted with seeing Rama. Satanada then seeing the two princes seated nearby spoke to Viswamitra, the best of sages.

ಅಪಿತೇ ಮುನಿಶಾರ್ದೂಲ ಮಮ ಮಾತಾ ಯಶಸ್ವಿನೀ |
ದರ್ಶಿತಾ ರಾಜಪುತ್ತ್ರಾಯ ತಪೋ ದೀರ್ಘಮುಪಾಗತಾ ||
ಅಪಿ ರಾಮೇ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾ ಮಮ ಮಾತಾ ಯಶಸ್ವಿನೀ |
ವನ್ಯೈರುಪಾಹರತ್ ಪೂಜಾಂ ಪೂಜಾರ್ಹೇ ಸರ್ವ ದೇಹಿನಾಮ್ ||
ಅಪಿ ರಾಮಾಯ ಕಥಿತಂ ಯಥಾವೃತ್ತಂ ಪುರಾತನಂ |
ಮಮಮಾತುರ್ಮಹಾತೇಜೋ ದೈವೇನ ದುರನುಷ್ಠಿತಮ್ ||
ಅಪಿ ಕೌಶಿಕ ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ ಗುರುಣಾ ಮಮಸಂಗತಾ |
ಮಮ ಮಾತಾ ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ರಾಮಸಂದರ್ಶನಾದಿತಃ ||
ಅಪಿ ಮೇ ಗುರುಣಾ ರಾಮಃ ಪೂಜಿತಃ ಕುಶಿಕಾತ್ಮಜಃ |
ಇಹಾಗತೋ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ ಪೂಜಾಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೋ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ ||
ಅಪಿ ಶಾಂತೇನ ಮನಸಾ ಗುರುರ್ಮೇ ಕುಶಿಕಾತ್ಮಜಃ |
ಇಹಾಗತೇನ ರಾಮೇಣ ಪ್ರಯತೇನಾಭಿವಾದಿತಃ ||

ಸ|| ಮುನಿಶಾರ್ದೂಲ ರಾಜಪುತ್ರಾಯ ದೀರ್ಘಂ ತಪಃ ಉಪಾಗತಾ ಮಮ ಮಾತಾ ತೇ ದರ್ಶಿತಾ ಅಪಿ |ಮಮ ಮಾತಾ ಯಶಸ್ವಿನೀ ಸರ್ವದೇಹಿನಾಂ ಪೂಜಾರ್ಹೇ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾ ರಾಮೇ ವನ್ಯೈಃ ಪೂಜಾಂ ಉಪಾಹರತ್ ಅಪಿ |ಹೇ ಮಹಾತೇಜೋ ! ಮಮ ಮಾತುಃ ಪುರಾತನಂ ದೈವೈನ ದುರನುತಿಷ್ಟಿತಂ ಯಥಾವೃತ್ತಂ ರಾಮಾಯ ಕಥಿತಮ್ ಅಪಿ| ಹೇ ಕೌಶಿಕ ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ ! ಹೇ ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಟ ಮಮಮಾತಾ ರಾಮಸಂದರ್ಶನಾತ್ ಇತಃ ಮಮ ಗುರುಣಾ ಸಂಗತಾ ಅಪಿ| ಹೇ ಕುಶಿಕಾತ್ಮಜಃ ! ಮೇ ಗುರುಣಾ ರಾಮಃ ಪೂಜಿತಃ | ಪೂಜಾಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೋ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ ಇಹಾಗತೋ ಅಪಿ| ಹೇ ಕೂಶಿಕಾತ್ಮಜಃ ಇಹಾಗತೇನ ರಾಮೇಣ ಮೇ ಗುರುಃ ಶಾಂತೇನ ಮನಸಾ ಪ್ರಯತೇನ ಅಭಿವಾದಿತಃ |

"Oh Tiger among sages ! Did the princes for whose darshan my mother was performing long penance oblige her ? Did my mother of great fame offer worship with things available in the forest to Rama who is fit for worship by the whole living world? O Highly radiant one ! Were those incidents that happened to my mother by misfortune told to SriRama ?Oh Kaushika , O Best of sages ! May all be well with you. After having Darshan of Rama did my mother join my father? O Son of Kusika ! Did my father offer worship to SriRama? Did Rama having received the worship oblige my father ? Oh Son of Kusika ! Rama having obliged did he receive my father with a calm mind and pay respects?"

ತಚ್ಛ್ರುತ್ವಾ ವಚನಂ ತಸ್ಯ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರೋ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ|
ಪ್ರತ್ಯುವಾಚ ಶತಾನಂದಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಜ್ಞೋ ವಾಕ್ಯ ಕೋವಿದಮ್ ||
ನಾತಿಕ್ರಾಂತಂ ಮುನಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಯತ್ಕರ್ತವ್ಯಂ ಕೃತಂ ಮಯಾ |
ಸಂಗತಾ ಮುನಿನಾ ಪತ್ನೀ ಭಾರ್ಗವೇಣ ರೇಣುಕಾ||

ಸ|| ತಸ್ಯ ತತ್ ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಃ ವಾಕ್ಯಜ್ಞೋ ವಾಕ್ಯ ಕೋವಿದಂ ಶತಾನಂದಂ ಪ್ರತುವಾಚ |ಹೇ ಮುನಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ! ಯತ್ ಕೃತಾ ಮಯಾ (ತತ್)ಕರ್ತವ್ಯಂ ನಾತಿಕ್ರಾಂತಂ ! ಯಥಾ ಭಾರ್ಗವೇಣ ರೇಣುಕಾ ತಥಾ ಮುನಿನಾ ಪತ್ನೀ ಸಂಗತಾ |

Hearing those words of Satananda who is a master of framing sentences and knows all about sentences, sage Viswamitra replied as under." Oh Best of sages! What I did was my duty. Nothing beyond that. The venerable sage rejoined his wife just like Bhargava was with Renuka !"

ತಚ್ಛ್ರುತ್ವಾ ವಚನಂ ತಸ್ಯ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಸ್ಯ ಭಾಷಿತಮ್|
ಶತಾನಂದೋ ಮಹತೇಜಾ ರಾಮಂ ವಚನಮಬ್ರವೀತ್ ||

ಸ|| ತಸ್ಯ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಸ್ಯ ಭಾಷಿತಂ ವಚನಂ ತತ್ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಶತಾನಂದಃ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾ ರಾಮಂ ವಚನ್ಂ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ |

Hearing those words of Viswamitra , the highly radiant Satananda spoke to Rama as follows.

ಸ್ವಾಗತಂ ತೇ ನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ದಿಷ್ಟ್ಯಾ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೋ ಸಿ ರಾಘವ |
ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಂ ಪುರಸ್ಕೃತ್ಯ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಂ ಅಪರಾಜಿತಮ್ ||
ಅಚಿಂತ್ಯ ಕರ್ಮಾ ತಪಸಾ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರ್ಷಿತುಲಪ್ರಭಃ |
ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರೋ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾ ವೇತ್ಸ್ಯೇನಂ ಪರಮಾಂ ಗತಿಮ್ ||
ನಾಸ್ತಿ ಧನ್ಯತರೋ ರಾಮ ತ್ವತ್ತೋsನ್ಯೋಭುವಿ ಕಶ್ಚನ |
ಗೋಪ್ತಾ ಕುಶಿಕಪುತ್ರಸ್ತೇ ಯೇನ ತಪ್ತಂ ಮಹತ್ತಪಃ ||
ಶ್ರೂಯತಾಂಚಾಭಿದಾಸ್ಯಾಮಿ ಕೌಶಿಕಸ್ಯ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ |
ಯಥಾಬಲಂ ಯಥಾವೃತ್ತಂ ತನ್ಮೇ ನಿಗದತಃ ಶೃಣು ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ! ಸ್ವಾಗತಂ |ಹೇ ರಾಘವ ! ಅಪರಾಜಿತಂ ಮಹರ್ಷಿಂ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಂ ಪುರಸ್ಕೃತ್ಯ ದಿಷ್ಟ್ಯಾ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೋಸಿ |ಮಹಾತೇಜಾ ವಿಶಾಮಿತ್ರಃ ಅಚಿಂತ್ಯ ಕರ್ಮಾ ತಪಸಾ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರ್ಷಿ ತುಲ ಪ್ರಭಃ ಏನಂ ಪರಮಾಂ ಗತಿಂ ವೇತ್ಸ (ಸಃ) |ರಾಮ ತ್ವತ್ ಅನ್ಯಃ ಧನ್ಯತರೋ ನಾಸ್ತಿ ಭುವಿ ಕಶ್ಚನ | ಕುಶಿಕಪುತ್ರಸ್ತೇ ಯೇನ ಮಹತ್ತಪಃ ತಪ್ತಂ ಗೋಪ್ತಾ | ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ ಕೌಶಿಕಸ್ಯ ಯಥಾ ಬಲಂ ಯಥಾ ವೃತ್ತಂ ತನ್ ಮೇ ಅಭಿದಾಸ್ಯಾಮಿ ಶ್ರೂಯತಾಂ ನಿಗದತಃ ಶ್ರುಣು |

" Oh Best of men! Welcome. O Raghava ! Following the undefeated and venerable sage Viswamitra is indeed fortunate for you. The highly radiant Viswamitra has become a Brahmarshi performing actions that cannot be imagined. It is instructive to know his ways. Oh Rama there cannot be any other man luckier than you in this world. This son of Kusika has performed tremendous penance. He is is your protector. I will tell you about the strength of Kausika in detail. Please listen !.

ರಾಜಾsಭೂದೇಷ ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲಮರಿಂದಮಃ |
ಧರ್ಮಜ್ಞಃ ಕೃತವಿದ್ಯಶ್ಚ ಪ್ರಜಾನಾಂ ಚ ಹಿತೇ ರತಃ ||
ಪ್ರಜಾಪತಿಸುತಶ್ಚಾಸೀತ್ ಕುಶೋ ನಾಮ ಮಹೀಪತಿಃ |
ಕುಶಸ್ಯ ಪುತ್ತ್ರೋ ಬಲವಾನ್ ಕುಶನಾಭ ಸ್ಸುಧಾರ್ಮಿಕಃ ||
ಕುಶನಾಭಸುತಶ್ಚಾಸೀತ್ ಗಾಧಿರಿತ್ಯೇವ ವಿಶ್ರುತಃ |
ಗಾಧೇಃ ಪುತ್ತ್ರೋ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರೋ ಮಹಾಮುನಿಃ ||
ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರೋ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ ಪಾಲಯಾಮಾಸ ಮೇದಿನೀಮ್ |
ಬಹುವರ್ಷ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ರಾಜಾ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಮಕಾರಯತ್ ||

ಸ|| ಏಷ ಧರ್ಮಾತ್ಮಾ ಅರಿಂದಮಃ ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲಂ ರಾಜಾ ಅಭೂತ್ | ಧರ್ಮಜ್ಞಃ ಕೃತವಿದ್ಯಶ್ಚ ಪ್ರಜಾನಾಂ ಹಿತೇ ರತಃ |ಕುಶೋನಾಮ ಮಹೀಪತಿಃ ಪ್ರಜಾಪತಿಸುತಃ ಆಸೀತ್ | ಕುಶಸ್ಯ ಪುತ್ರಃ ಬಲವಾನ್ ಕುಶನಾಭಃ ಸುಧಾರ್ಮಿಕಃ |ಕುಶನಾಭಸ್ಯ ಸುತಃ ಗಾಧಿಃ ಇತಿ ಏವ ವಿಶ್ರುತಃ | ಗಾಧೇಃ ಪುತ್ರಃ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಃ ಮಾಹಾಮುನಿಃ ಆಸೀತ್ |ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಃ ಮಹಾತೇಜಾಃ ಮೇದಿನೀಮ್ ಪಾಲಯಾಮಾಸ | ರಾಜಾ ಬಹುವರ್ಷ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ರಾಜ್ಯಂ ಅಕಾರಯತ್ |

"He is righteous. He has crushed all the enemies. He was a king for along time. He is knowledgeable about right conduct. He has learned all crafts. He is desirous of the welfare of people. There was a king by name Kusa. The son of Kusa is Kuasanabha, who is also righteous. The son of Kusanabha is well known as Gadhi. The son of Gadhi is the highly radiant and great ascetic Viswamitra. The highly radiant Viswamitra ruled the earth. He was ruling as a king for thousands of years".

ಕದಾಚಿತ್ತು ಮಹಾತೇಜಾ ಯೋಜಯಿತ್ವಾ ವರೂಧಿನೀಮ್|
ಅಕ್ಷೌಹಿಣೀಪರಿವೃತ್ತಃ ಪರಿಚಕ್ರಾಮ ಮೇದಿನೀಮ್ ||
ನಗರಾಣಿ ಸ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಾಣಿ ಸರಿತಶ್ಚ ತಥಾ ಗಿರೀನ್ |
ಆಶ್ರಮಾನ್ ಕ್ರಮಶೋ ರಾಮ ವಿಚರನ್ನಾಜಗಾಮ ಹ ||
ವಶಿಷ್ಠಸ್ಯಾಶ್ರಮಪದಂ ನಾನಾ ವೃಕ್ಷಸಮಾಕುಲಮ್ |
ನಾನಾಮೃಗಗಣಾಕೀರ್ಣಂ ಸಿದ್ಧಚಾರಣ ಸೇವಿತಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ಕದಾಚಿತ್ ಮಹಾತೇಜಃ ಅಕ್ಷೌಹಿಣೀ ಪರಿವೃತ್ತಃ ವರೂಧಿನೀ ಯೋಜಯಿತ್ವಾ ಮೇದಿನೀಂ ಪರಿಚಕ್ರಾಮ |ಹೇ ರಾಮ ! ಸಃ ನಗರಾಣಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಾಣಿ ಸರಿತಶ್ಚ ತಥಾ ಗಿರೀನ್ ಕ್ರಮಶೋ ವಿಚರನ್ ಆಶ್ರಮಾನ್ ಜಗಾಮ ಹ |ನಾನಾ ವೃಕ್ಷ ಸಮಾಕುಲಂ ನಾನಾಮೃಗಗಣಾಕೀರ್ಣಮ್ ಸಿದ್ಧಚಾರಣ ಸೇವಿತಂ ವಶಿಷ್ಠಸ್ಯ ಆಶ್ರಮಪದಂ ( ಜಗಾಮ)|

Then once the highly radiant one having become victorious went around the earth with an army of one division ( Akshahauni). Oh Rama ! Going around cities, states, rivers and mountains he reached a hermitage. That hermitage of Vashista is full of variety of trees, and animals. It is worshipped by Siddhas and Charanas too.

ದೇವದಾನವ ಗಂಧರ್ವೈಃ ಕಿನ್ನರೈರುಪಶೋಭಿತಮ್ |
ಪ್ರಶಾಂತಹರಿಣಾಕೀರ್ಣಂ ದ್ವಿಜಸಂಘನಿಷೇವಿತಮ್ ||
ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರ್ಷಿಗಣ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣಂ ದೇವರ್ಷಿಗಣ ಸೇವಿತಮ್ |
ತಪಶ್ಚರಣ ಸಂಸಿದ್ಧೈಃ ಅಗ್ನಿಕಲ್ಪೈರ್ಮಹಾತ್ಮಭಿಃ ||
ಅಬ್ಭಕ್ಷೈರ್ವಾಯುಭಕ್ಷೈಶ್ಚ ಶೀರ್ಣಪರ್ಣಾಶನೈಸ್ತಥಾ |
ಫಲಮೂಲಾಶನೈರ್ದಾಂತೈಃ ಜಿತರೋಷೈರ್ಜಿತೇಂದ್ರಿಯೈಃ ||
ಋಷಿಭಿರ್ವಾಲಖಿಲ್ಯೈಶ್ಚ ಜಪಹೋಮ ಪರಾಯಣೈಃ |
ಅನ್ಯೈರ್ವೈಖಾನಸೈಶ್ಚೈವ ಸಮಂತಾ ದುಪಶೋಭಿತಮ್ ||

ಸ||( ತತ್ ಆಶ್ರಮಪದಂ) ದೇವ ದಾನವ ಗಂಧರ್ವೈಃ ಕಿನ್ನರೈಃ ಉಪಶೋಭಿತಂ ಪ್ರಶಾಂತ ಹರಿಣಾ ಕೀರ್ಣಂ ದ್ವಿಜಸಂಘ ನಿಷೇವಿತಂ| ( ತತ್ ಆಶ್ರಮಪದಂ) ಬ್ರಹ್ಮರ್ಷಿ ಗಣ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣಂ ದೇವರ್ಷಿ ಗಣ ಸೇವಿತಂ ತಪಶ್ಚರಣ ಸಂಸಿದ್ಧೈಃ ಅಗ್ನಿ ಕಲ್ಪೈಃ ಮಹಾತ್ಮಭಿಃ.(ತತ ಆಶ್ರಮಪದಂ) ಅಭಕ್ಷೈಃ ವಾಯುಭಕ್ಷೈಶ್ಚ ತಥಾ ಶೀರ್ಣ ಪರ್ಣಾ ಶನೈಃ ಫಲಮೂಲಾಶನೈಃ ದಾಂತೈಃ ಜಿತರೋಷೈಃ ಜಿತೇಂದ್ರಿಯೈಃ ( ಸೇವಿತಂ) |ಋಷಿಭಿಃ ವಾಲಖಿಲ್ಯೈಶ್ಚ ಅನ್ಯೈಃ ವೈಖಾನಸೈಶ್ಚ ಜಪ ಹೋಮ ಪರಾಯಣೈಃ ಸಮಂತಾತ್ ಉಪಶೋಭಿತಮ್ |

That hermitage was brightened by the presence of Devas Danavas Gandharvas and Kinneras. It was quiet with herds of deer roaming freely. That hermitage was worshipped by legions of Brahmarshis and Devarshis. The sages there were rich with power of penance and were highly radiant like fire. There were some who are on fast. Some were having only air as the food. Some were having only ripened leaves. Some were on fruits and roots. Some were on vegetables grown underground. Some have conquered anger and some have conquered all sensory organs. That hermitage was radiant with the presence of sages, Valkhilyas, Vaikhanasas, and experts in penance and firer related rites.

ವಶಿಷ್ಠಾಶ್ರಮಪದಂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಲೋಕಮಿವಾಪರಂ |
ದದರ್ಶ ಜಯತಾಂ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠೋ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರೋ ಮಹಬಲಃ ||

ಸ|| ವಶಿಷ್ಟಾಶ್ರಮಪದಂ ಅಪರಂ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಲೋಕ ಮಿವ ( ಅಸ್ತಿ) (ತಂ) ಜಯತಾಂ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಃ ಮಹಾಬಲಃ ವಿಶ್ವಾಮಿತ್ರಃ ದದರ್ಶ

That Vashista's hermitage was like another world of Brahma. Viswamitra, the best among Victors saw that hermitage.

ಇತ್ಯಾರ್ಷೇ ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ರಾಮಾಯಣೇ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕೀಯೇ ಆದಿಕಾವ್ಯೇ ಬಾಲಕಾಂಡೇ ಏಕಪಂಚಾಶ ಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ ||
